Therefore, a call for interested individuals was issued to select new qaris and muezzins for the Astan (custodianship of the holy shrine), Mohammad Moqqavemi, the head of the Astan’s Dar-ol-Quran Center told IQNA.
He emphasized that Quran and Adhan reciters have an important and sensitive place in the Astan.
He noted that the Dar-ol-Quran Center invites renowned Quran teachers, reciters, and distinguished figures on various occasions.
He added that in order to benefit from newer talents in this field, it was necessary to identify new individuals. “This way, not only could we take advantage of their presence, but we would also be able to replace a well-known figure if they were unavailable, depending on the circumstances.”
“Hence, we published the call in October and provided information regarding the recruitment of reciters and muezzins. In the first phase, since this initiative was specific to the Khorasan Razavi province, one of the requirements for registration in this call was to have at least one provincial ranking in Quran competitions.”
Moqqavemi added that within the specified timeframe of the announcement, around 220 individuals submitted their applications and then initial review and evaluation were conducted, considering factors such as qualifications and place of residence.

“Then, 100 individuals were selected, and in the next step, they were asked to virtually submit a recording of their recitation based on the designated recitation range.”
He noted that 50 of the applicants made it to the final exam, which was held earlier this week at the Dar at-Tafsir Center of the holy shrine.
A few of them managed to score the minimum points required to join the team of the holy shrine’s Quran and Adhan reciters, he went on to say.
